Hello, I'm Olivia
I'm a project manager, a parent, and an expat living in Toronto, Canada.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term contract gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Relocating to Canada wasn’t part of the long-term plan. Like many expat moves, it began as a work opportunity and quickly became something much bigger.
Moving to Canada wasn't in the plan for the long haul. As with many international relocations, it started as a job chance and soon grew into something far more significant.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But slowly, routines formed. We discovered places that worked for us, met other families, and started building something that felt stable.
We faced culture shock and uncertainty, learning by trial. Gradually routines took shape. We found spots that suited us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built Crystal Canvas Ivory
Most information online was either corporate-level relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
The majority of online content was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism material. What lacked was a genuine, everyday family viewpoint.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Canada.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical advice drawn from real life in Canada.
What This Site Does (And Doesn't)
This site is:
- Practical know-how from life in Canada
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated when something genuinely changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Paid-review platform
- A generic travel diary
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Canada continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue recording what we uncover.
If you have questions about family life in Toronto or anywhere in Canada, please don't hesitate to contact me.
Cheers,
Olivia
